Coat of arms of Ludovico Maria Sforza (1452-1508), "Ludovico il Moro", Duke of Bari, 7th Duke of Milan, who ruled as the Duke of Milan from 1494 to 1499, younger son son of w:Francesco I Sforza (1401-1466), 4th Duke of Milan. With Sforza motto: MERITO ET TEMPORE (With Merit and Time) and Broom badge (One of the best known Sforza 'imprese' is the 'impresa della scopetta', the broom, presented for the first time in 1454. It is accompanied by the motto: 'Merito et Tempore' (it. "per merito e con tempo") meaning 'on merit and with time'. This 'impresa' proclaims: Francesco will clean up the duchy of all ugliness.[1]).

The dexter (baron) side of the coat of arms impales the arms of w:Muzio Attendolo Sforza, founder of the Sforza dynasty Gules quartering barry nebulée argent and azure, with Ludovico's personal heraldic device overall in the 1st and 4th quarters: impresa della scopetta con il fasciato ondato sforzesco, the broom device quartering Barry nebulée argent and azure.
