Summary
editDescriptionCoats of arms of alienor of aquitaine.svg |
Français : This is an attributed (i.e. fictional) coat of arms of Alienor of Aquitaine. It is based on a photograph found on pinterest.com which shows the interior of an English church (which one? the pinterest.com photo description mentions 'st katherines') which apparently displays "coats of arms of English queens" on the interior, with attributed (fictional) coats of arms for those queens who do not have a known historical coat of arms.
The heraldic idea here is clearly to display per pale the "coat of arms of Aquitaine" and the "coat of arms of Henry II of England", i.e. it would be Alienor's coat of arms after her marriage to Henry, but both these coats of arms are themselves "fictional", the two lions of Henry II may look back to a longer (late medieval?) tradition, the "coat of arms of Aquitaine" appears to be a 20th century invention. See Angevin coat of arms and List of coats of arms of the House of Plantagenet for more. |
