Summary edit

Description
English: The demonstration of the potential barrier at the surface of metal, when perpendicular electrostatic field is applied. In the metal electrons fill the energy levels up to the Fermi energy, and there is a potential barrier with finite width outside the surface. Unlike the case of no electric field, the barrier does not stretch to infinity with const value, hence it has a finite width, which makes for the electrons to tunnel through it.
