English: The Colman family was prominent in early Seattle. James Murray Colman was involved in the timber and shipping industries. He constructed the Colman Building and Colman Dock and helped to establish the Seattle and Walla Walla Railway. The Colman family home was located on 4th and Columbia, an area that was excavated during one of the city’s many regrade projects. Caption by MOHAI staff
