Description |
English: This image shows the Colonial Building, also called Colonial Block, located at the southwest corner of First Avenue & Seneca Street in downtown Seattle. Designed in 1902 by Max Umbrecht, the building was one of several structures restored in the early 1980s for Waterfront Place, a mixed-use development. Confusingly, there is another building referred to as the Colonial Building, also called the Chapin Block, located at the northeast corner of Second Avenue and Columbia Street, which was built in 1888 and designed by Boone and Meeker. Both buildings are still standing in 2017. Businesses in image: John F. Kelly; Grand Pacific Hotel; Colonial Hotel; Seattle Woolen Mills; Keystone Liquor Co. Signs in image: Post Alley; Olympia Beer This photograph is part of an album titled "Views of Businesses and Buildings, Area: Pine to Madison, 4th to Western" Caption information source: https://pauldorpat.com/2012/07/01/seattle-now-then-buzbys-waterfront-mill Caption information source: https://pauldorpat.com/2011/11/26/seattle-now-then-the-chapin-block
