Description

A view of a batter for the Columbus Clippers standing at the plate in preparation of a pitch during a baseball game with the Syracuse Chiefs in Franklin County Stadium. An umpire and the catcher for the Chiefs stand and kneel behind him. The batter is wearing a black armband in honor of Thurman Munson, a New York Yankees catcher who died in an airplane accident on August 2, 1979. The Clippers were the AAA baseball affiliate for the New York Yankees. The Chiefs were the AAA baseball affiliate for the Toronto Blue Jays.
