Description
Português: Estação da Luz. Em 1860, inicia-se a construção da estrada de ferro The São Paulo Railway Company que ligaria a próspera região de produção de café do interior de São Paulo ao principal porto exportador, Santos. Em 1865, inaugura-se a primeira estação em São Paulo, substituída, em 1900, pela Estação da Luz, monumental edifício em ferro e tijolos, projetado na Inglaterra, com área de 7.520 metros quadrados, que se tornou referência obrigatória em todos os guias e relatos de viajantes, reorientando o crescimento da cidade. Ainda hoje funciona como importante entroncamento do sistema metropolitano de transporte.
