Description
English: Combat Diving and Diving above altitude 2000 metres for trainee divers of the Indian Navy and Coast Guard was conducted by Diving School, Southern Naval Command from 20 to 30 December 2021 at Pykara reservoir, Ooty. The aim of the camp was to acclimatise trainee divers with diving in cold water at altitudes above 2000 to 3000 metres and be confident to execute clandestine operations under adverse diving conditions. The surface pressure and temperature at altitudes above 2000 metres are lower than normal and requires a specialised skillset to conduct diving under such environmental conditions. Combat diving involves usage of closed circuit diving sets which are deployed with special precautions at altitudes above 2000 metres. During the camp, the clearance divers of Diving School also undertook diving in specialised EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) mixture diving sets used for Underwater Mine Clearance Operations in the Indian Navy. The camp was concluded with a Triathlon which included long run, finning and swimming.
