Summary edit
DescriptionComing under Plank Lane Bridge - geograph.org.uk - 1619481.jpg |
English: Coming under Plank Lane Bridge The canal in this area is above the level of the surroundings because of mining subsidence. There once was a lock here that became pointless and was removed as the ground levels changed. This may be why this fairly busy road still has a lift bridge - a more substantial structure would probably need to be of special adjustable design to allow for subsidence. |
