Commander Bruce McCandless, USN
 
Halftone reproduction of a photograph, copied from the official publication "Medal of Honor, 1861-1949, The Navy", page 224. Bruce McCandless was awarded the Medal of Honor for "conspicuous gallantry and exceptionally distinguished service" while serving as the Communication Officer on board USS San Francisco (CA-38) during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal, 12-13 November 1942.
