Description
English: The special commemorative postal stamp cover was released on 12th December 2005 by India Post to mark the 150 years celebration of one of the oldest schools of West Bengal, India, Sarangabad High School.

The school established in 1856 is in all probability the only school ( apart from Barisha High School) in South 24 Parganas, West Bengal, India, to remain operational for more than 150 years. Initially started as a school held at ' kachari bari' of the local zamindar, the institution got patronage of both swadeshi educationists and British officials and philanthropists. Now the school has three functional brick and mortar buildings with concrete roofs and modern science laboratories, water atm, on grid solar power generating unit and well equipped computer laboratory and library.

The school is affiliated to West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education.

It has units running from class five to twelve while classes five to ten are only for boys, the higher secondary section is co educational.

One of the prominent ex students of the school, Late Shri Subrata Mukherjee, who had held different governmental portfolios as Minister of the Government of West Bengal, had contributed immensely in his life time for the development of the school. The water atm, the solar power generating units, the newly constructed two storied building, etc are all part of his contributions.

The school has well qualified teaching faculty and friendly and cooperative non teaching staff.

Apart from having its own playground, the school has two common rooms and a courtyard.
