Left side image shows the Snow Trac's VW engine with a horizontal heat shield in front of the engine over the muffler to prevent muffler heat from overheating the engine. Right side image shows VW engine obscured behind a vertical heat shield that divides the engine compartment into a front section and a rear section. This type of heat shield seems to have been common on the Royal Marines/NATO Snow Trac models and may also have been used in some civilian versions. |
