Description
English: So, another one of the landscape displays of stoneposts, so common in Kansas suburbs far east from the natural outcrops of the Fencepost limestone west of Salina. But, wait! There’s too many clam shells on the leaner the left rock). That’s a limestone from the Shellrock bed of the Jetmore Chalk member (also of the Greenhorn Formation)! The top bed of the Jetmore Chalk member is a thicker and stronger bed of limestone, which, because of the particularly abundant inoceramus, is call the Shellrock limestone. It is as about as thick as the Fencepost, and sometime forms another bench about 20 feet (6.1 m) below the Fencepost. Because the Shellrock is not as nearly as durable as the fencepost, it is rarely used for posts or building; but here it shows holes drilled for splitting in a quarry.
