Summary edit

Description
English: 517/5000 The monastic complex of Sant'Elia Prophet, was built around the middle of the seventeenth century and includes three sectors: the underground cemetery or crypt, the convent of the Carmelite friars and the sanctuary of Maria SS del Carmelo. The construction became necessary following the abandonment by the friars of the Sant'Elia Vecchio Monastery. It is supposed as a result of the earthquakes that had strongly damaged or even to escape from the abuses that the monks suffered from the fugitives who abused the right to asylum.
