| Description |
This is a sad place - where the Air France Concorde crashed on 25 July 2000. Everyone was shocked when such an iconic aircraft crashed - me included - and in particular because I had previously flown in one. For a long time I wanted to visit the site and pay my respects. I include this picture for anyone who may have an interest in the tragic event but who will not be able (or wish) to visit the site near Paris. The bird sitting on the top of the memorial seems to also add to the aviation atmosphere. The actual crash site is immediately behind the double gates and the memorial. The gates are kept shut & locked but opened every year on the anniversary of the crash for relatives and friends of those who died to come and pay their respects. RIP. |
