editDescriptionConcrete blocks from WWII - geograph.org.uk - 895007.jpg |
English: Concrete blocks from WWII These two lines of concrete blocks in the Summer Leasow in Twyning date from the Second World War, originally these blocks were distributed around Twyning Meadow to stop it being used by enemy aircraft as a landing field. The meadow would have been an ideal landing site as it is 220 acres, just over a third of a square mile in size, and being flood plain it is level. The meadow is one of the largest pieces of flat open land for many miles. Today the meadow is bisected by the M5 motorway which can be seen in the background. Bredon Hill is on the horizon. |
