Image title | Honolulu, Hawaii, USA --- Opium pipes valued at several thousand dollars are burned at a public dumping grounds under supervision of (left to right) the governer's secretary, John Stone, ex-sheriff Charles H. Rose, Acting Governer Raymond C. Brown, former captain of detectives Arthur McDuffie and Detective C. Apana--result of housecleaning conducted at police headquarters upon beginning of new administration. Almost 1000 pipes were burned, all of which had accumulated in evidence room during last six years. Among lot were opium burners valued at $100 each, which were richly carved and inlaid with mother of pearl.
