| Description |
c/n 6907L (also listed as 5061). Built for the US Army Air Corps in late 1944 as a B-24L with the serial 44-50206. Allocated to the RAF in April 1945 and delivered directly to India in June 1945 as ‘KN751’, now designated a Liberator B.VIII. Served only with 99(Madras Presidency)sqn based at Dhubalia, Bengal. Struck off charge in April 1946 and stored. Passed to the Indian Air Force in November 1947 and converted to a maritime patrol aircraft by Hindustan Aircraft at Bangalore. Delivered in March 1949 with the serial ‘HE807’. Finally retired in December 1969 and stored. Allocated to the RAF Museum in 1970. During 1974 it was completely overhauled and in July undertook a 41 hour flight to the UK, arriving at RAF Lyneham. It then flew to RAF Colerne and joined the collection there until moved by road to Cosford in 1976, where she went on display in Indian markings. In 1987 she was repainted into 99sqn colours and remained on display until 2005 when she moved to Hendon.
