Summary

edit
Description This model in the aviation exhibit in St. John's airport is of the Consolidated PBY Canso aircraft. This was a reconoissance bomber and amphibious flying boat of the UA Air Force. Initially outshopped in 1934 and later re-designed in 1939, these aircraft were notoriously slow, but had tremendous durability and range and were used for surveillance to protect US navy ships from the formidable and notorious German U-Boats.
