| Description |
English: Coppicing in Hadleigh Country Park. In the early nineties, the Castle Point local group of the Essex Wildlife Trust http://www.essexwt.org.uk/ assisted the County Ranger Services in managing local woodlands. (This was before we acquired our first local Trust woodland reserve.) Here we are coppicing a woodland in what was then the Hadleigh Castle Country Park. Coppiced Hornbeam (such as these) are usually cut down to ground level, but here we had left a stump to conform with local management needs. This photo was taken in the same wood as 1567792, but at the bottom of the slope. |
