| Description |
English: Coquet Island Taken from Nether Grange at Alnmouth, five miles away. It was a monastic site from the 7th century onwards. The lighthouse was built in 1841, which was manned until 1990 and is now automated. The island is now an RSPB nature reserve, home to over 30,000 pairs of seabirds. The public are not allowed to land, although RSPB wardens do stay on the island. |
