Description
English:

A dark water bird flapping its wings in water.

Cormorants can often be spotted at Clay Pond. Many birds have oil in their feathers that helps them stay waterproof, but cormorants are different. Having less oil helps them to perform deep dives into water and fish with greater agility. After they’ve snagged their breakfast, they then dry out their feathers by sitting on logs and spreading out their wings to soak in the sunlight.
