Description

FORT STEWART, Ga. – Officials with Fort Stewart, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District, Winn Army Hospital, and McCarthy Building Company broke ground on phase two of a large-scale hospital expansion project, Jan. 10, 2013. USACE photo by Tracy Robillard.

With a contract value of $37 million, phase two will expand and renovate the hospital's dining facility and add an additional 23,000-square-foot emergency department. It will also double the size of the pharmacy, expand the Family and Internal Medicine Clinic, and add 234 new parking spaces. Last January, the Corps broke ground on a phase one, which was a $23.1 million expansion (65,000 square feet).

The overall expansion and renovation has an estimated completion of October 2016. The schedule requires relocating operational clinics to temporary facilities while construction takes place in those areas.

Winn Army Hospital supports approximately 25,000 soldiers.
