Em sua 8ª edição, a Corrida dos Bonecos Gigantes tornou-se um marco na história do carnaval olindense. Promovido pela Secretaria de Patrimônio e Cultura de Olinda em parceria com as secretarias de Esportes e Trânsito, além da Liga Olindense de Bonecos Gigantes, o evento garantiu a diversão de todos, com as enormes e simpáticas figuras correndo em ritmo frenético do Mercado da Ribeira à sede da Prefeitura.
