Description

Cortinarius superbus A.H. Sm.

Image location: Salt Point State Park, Sonoma Co., California, USA

Growing near tanoak and fir. Caps up to 8.5 cm across and tacky. No spore print after 24 hr; used gill wash with KOH. Spores ~ 11.0-13.9 X 7.0-8.3 microns, rough. KOH on cap was brown, neg. on other surfaces. 

ID suggested by Dimitar Bojantchev.  Does look like a younger version of my MO#31226
