Title
Cottage, George St, Adelaide c1914
Description

A similar photograph in the SA State Library (SLSA B26) strongly suggests that this was a cottage in George St, Adelaide off the north side of Rundle St East. Built in 1840, it was later (1874) the birthplace of the Hon. Crawford Vaughan, South Australian Premier 1915-17. The large brick construction on the side was Turner's Bakehouse. The cottage was demolished from 1914. The street is now known as Vaughan Place.

The photographer was identified as 'Mr Vaughan', very likely Alfred Vaughan, the government lithographer, Crawford's father and the cottage's occupier.
