Description
English: Tenement house in Cottbus, Schwanstraße 11, 1906; Currently used as a branch office of the Karl-Thiem-Klinikum. Corner building to Bahnhofstraße with steep mansard roof. Pedestal squared, ground floor with plaster cornices. In the two upper storeys the various windows are horizontally connected by cornice sills and across all floors by reliefed decor fields (including a uniform cartouche motif in the balustrades). The facade facing the Bahnhofstraße with middle avant-corps. Polygonal oriel with a trapezoidal wall dormer, behind whose bargeboard the richly decorated gable surface recedes. Side of the avant-corps balconies with original lattice parapet. The corner of the house is again designed like a oriel. Also on the show side to Schwanstraße two analogously designed wall dormers dominate the facade impression. The entrance axis here characterized by flat avant-corps. At the back menial staircase tower in the building's spandrel. Main staircase with stylized interlace railing. Doors with Art Nouveau décor and filigree stuccoed ceilings (leaf decoration, geometric patterns) in the former representation rooms of the building time. An architecturally striking corner house, which displays both eclectic tendencies and Art Nouveau influence both in the structure of its building corps and in the exterior and interior decoration, whereby the historical forms are stylized on the facades and the usage of it compared to the period before 1900 greatly reduced; cultural heritage monument
