| Description |
English: Course of Former Tramway Dating from 1857 this tramway linked the Ailesbury Ironstone Mine to the calcining kilns alongside Scugdale Beck. From the kilns the reduced ore was transported to the ironworks in Stockton via a branch railway from the Cleveland and North Yorkshire Railway. The mine and kilns were abandoned on 2nd April 1887.
The tramway followed the slight dip on the left, across the field and to the right of the cottages at Huthwaite Green. The mine was located in the woods behind the cottages. |
