English: Cow on Walthamstow Marshes One of the cows reintroduced to Walthamstow Marshes recently in the hope of improving plant biodiversity. The land was traditionally used for Lammas grazing, but without cattle, plants like Greek dock, comfrey and Michaelmas daisies had begun to take over. Conservationists hope that the new regime will benefit species such as the very rare creeping marshwort which earned the marsh its classification as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. |
