English: Crash debris from Wellington bomber R1465 On the 6th July 1942 this bomber crashed on the hill top above while dipping down out of heavy cloud to get a fix. The debris has been gathered here and a monument built.
This page http://www.clwb-cerdded-ystalyfera.i12.com/pages/r1465.htm claims that the engines have rolled down into the river and valley below, while this document http://www.crossandcockade.com/files/UK%20ENGINES.doc says that they have been removed to the Midland Warplane Museum. In common with this other crash 396900 the flight was out of Wellesbourne Mountford and the crew were Canadian. |
