Summary
editDescriptionCreative Arts Building.JPG | The Creative Arts Building, located on the Colorado State Fairgrounds in Pueblo, Colorado. According to the Colorado State Register of Historic Properties nomination form for the Colorado State Fairgrounds, the building was "Originally known as the Exposition Building, [and was] partially funded by the Pueblo Manufacturers and Jobbers Association to showcase manufacturers and merchants from Pueblo, Denver and the Arkansas Valley. It has since hosted a number of uses. It was the headquarters of CCC camp # 801-SP-6-C during the 1930s. It was called the 'Little Theater' in the late 1940s and early 1950s and hosted performers like Sally Rand and Jack Benny. In 1954 the building was remodeled to exhibit flowers, needlework and domestic arts." The plaque at the entrance under a former window reads, "W.H. Adams Governor / Colorado State Fair Commission / J.H. Thatcher Pres J.J. Tobin Sec / T.P. Detamore Treas J.J. Clark Mgr / Pueblo Manufacturers & Jobbers Assn / Walter DeMordaunt Architect / A.D. 1928." |
