Summary
editDescriptionCreeting St. Mary church - geograph.org.uk - 1107204.jpg |
English: Creeting St. Mary church The church dominates this hilltop position, but according to a sign in the churchyard there was an earlier All-Saints round-towered church at the photographer's position. The two churches existed together for hundreds of years but after severe damage in a storm in 1800, the All-Saints church was demolished in 1801 and extra space added to St. Mary's. This does not explain why the first church was not built at the top of the hill, nor why a second church was built. |
