English: Crescent Apartments, 196 Crescent Avenue at West Oakwood Place, Buffalo, New York, November 2020. In contrast to the one- and two-family residences that more typically populate Crescent Avenue and Parkside in general is this large Neoclassical-style apartment building dating to 1925. Architectural details of note include a stepped parapet at the flat roofline, decorated with shield motifs at the center and end, crowning a cornice bracketed with modillions. The entrances, executed in marble, feature pilaster strips supporting a projecting entablature, with second-floor windows above framed with additional pilaster strips (adorned with base volutes) and a projecting pediment atop. |
