| Description |
English: The Crocker House at 180 State Street between Union and Green Streets in New London, Connecticut, was built in 1872-1873 in the Second Empire style and was the city's first modern luxury hotel. The five-story building originally had a sixth floor in its mansard roof, but it was destroyed in a fire. An addition to the building was constructed in 1914, designed by James Sweeney. Eugene O'Neill was a frequent customer at the hotel's bar, and a number of U.S. Presidents stayed at the hotel. The Crocker House hotel operated until the 1960s; it is now the Crocker House Apartments. The building is part of the Downtown New London Historic District.
