English: Sign on building reads: Smoking Positively Forbidden. Stamped on verso: Portland, Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition. Handwritten on verso: Buildings and Grounds - Forestry Building.Filed in: Box 1/2 The Lewis and Clark Exposition was hosted by the city of Portland from June 1 to October 15, 1905. Covering over 400 acres, the fair showcased exhibits from various nations and states, and it promoted the economic potential of the Pacific Northwest region. Proclaimed the "world's largest log cabin," the Forestry Building was designed by architect A.E. Doyle and it was constructed at a cost of $30,000. It burned to the ground on August 17, 1964.
