English: The crucifixion of Christ is depicted on a stained glass window in the sanctuary of Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church in Buffalo, New York, as seen after mass on a March 2022 morning. This is one of 31 such windows in the church, the majority of which were crafted in the Munich style by the Tyrol Art Glass Company of Innsbruck, Austria. Innovated in the early 19th century, the style eschews the Medieval-derived aesthetic of assembling small pieces of colored glass as in a mosaic in favor of large panels of glass painted with lush imagery, often incorporating verdant landscapes as an expression of nature as the source of spiritual inspiration. |
