Summary

Description
English: Cullercoats shoreline The coast immediately north of the Tyne marks the north-eastern limit of the belt of cream-coloured magnesian limestone which runs from Nottinghamshire through Yorkshire and County Durham. Here it is overlaid by boulder clay (far right of picture) left behind as the glaciers melted. The grim sky and choppy sea belies the fact that this is one day after midsummer day.
