Summary edit

Description The Curta calculator is a wonderful historical curiosity. It was a hand-operated mechanical calculator that was driven by the rotation of the crank at the top of the device. Among its early adopters were rally drivers who needed to calculate target times to checkpoints. An experienced operator could operate the device without taking their eyes off the road. The Curta calculator would have been the invention that displaced the slide calculator, if it had not had the misfortune of being developed just prior to the advent of the age of the transistor.
