Description
English: The Harlow C. Curtiss Building, otherwise known as the Pleu Building, 357 Delaware Avenue at West Tupper Street, Buffalo, New York, December 2019. Erected in 1924, the building's designers originally intended for it to rise to a height of six stories, but their plans were scaled back before construction. The building's cooling system was innovative, making use of a tributary of the Buffalo River buried by the city (which was known to flood the basement with some frequency). With its Doric entablature and engaged columns, the Curtiss Building is a Renaissance Revival building that displays heavy indebtedness to Neoclassicism.
