Summary
editDescriptionCushman Row West 20th.jpg | The Cushman Row, at 406-418 West 20th Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, sit across from the General Theological Seminary. They were built by Don Alonzo Cushman, a dry goods merchant and friend of Clement Clarke Moore, whose estate "Chelsea" once encompassed most of the current neighborhood. Cushman became a millionaire developing the neighborhood once Moore began to sell off parts of the estate. These Greek Revival row houses were built in 1840. (source:AIA Guide to NYC 4th ed.) |
