Summary edit

Description
English: We flew into the dirt strip in Shabunda, South Kivu. The town is almost completely cut off. The roads from Bukavu and Kindu have been eaten up by jungle and are infested with Rwandan Hutu rebels. They don't get so many visits. The Japanese ambassador was welcomed as the most important since Albert the first, king of the Belgians visited in 1958. We were here to visit the Ecole Assaini projects put in place by the nuns and a local NGO in seven local schools. From our arrival at the strip we swept along in a wave of humanity, saluting policemen, RPG toting soldiers and singing children. The emotion was intoxicating. Hundreds of children were singing Karibu in harmony and waving cut flowers.
