English: Stumps remaining on land cleared of longleaf pine in the Kisatchie National Forest, Louisiana.
  • Caption 1: Cutover virgin longleaf [pine], Flatwoods, Louisiana.
  • Caption 2: This land, now part of the Kisatchie National Forest in Louisiana, is typical of many acres acquired by the Forest Service in the early thirties after the original timber was depleted by uncontrolled cutting and fire.
  • Caption 3: The "cut-over and get-out" policy is no more. Forest lands now are managed for sustained yield.
