Should thesignal rertrain up and the triple valve fail to releasethe brake, as it should do when in perfect condition,the brakeman could from the top of a freight-or theinside of a passenger car release the brake by simplypressing a valve, without having to stop the train,thereby avoiding slid-flat wheels, pulled-out draw-heads, stalling on grades, heating of wheels, andconsequent wrecks.
