Notes
  • Significance: This barn was built by John Fain on his "Lone Oak Farm" in the 1890's. It is a very large heavy timber framed structure. It originally housed cattle and horses, and provided storage for hay and grain, and later was fitted out for drying tobacco. The Fain Barn attracted considerable attention when it was built, and it survives as one of the most impressive examples of this type of barn in the region. The farm has given way to a subdivision, and the barn has been purchased by the local Optimist Club to be used in a recreational park.
  • Unprocessed Field note material exists for this structure: FN-52
  • Survey number: HABS TN-194
