Description
English: „The arms show the lion of the Dukes of Jülich, who ruled the area for many centuries, it is taken from an old seal from 1343."
Deutsch: „Im blauen Schildhaupt rechts ein abnehmender goldener (gelber) Mond, links ein sechsstrahliger goldener (gelber) Stern, darunter in Gold (Gelb) ein steigender rotbewehrter und bezungter schwarzer Löwe.“ Das Wappenschild entstammt einem Schöffensiegel von 1343. Der Löwe bezeugt die Zugehörigkeit zum Jülicher Herrschaftsbereich. Der Grund für die Wahl von Mond und Stern ist nicht bekannt, aber wahrscheinlich sysmbolisieren diese beiden Zeichen die Teilnahme eines Wappenträgers an Kreuzzügen in den Orient.
