| Description |
English: The arms of the Amt Meinerzhagen were granted on November 17, 1936.
„The arms combine elements of the arms of the former rulers in the region; the black cross of the Archbishops of Köln, the lion of the Duchy Berg and the chequered bar of the Counts of the Mark. The bishops had already possessions in the region in the 11th century, the Dukes of Berg still had an estate in the 18th century and most of the area belonged to the Counts of the Mark since the 14th century until the early 19th century."
Deutsch: „Das Wappen des ehemaligen Amtes Meinerzhagen zeigt im silbernem (weißem) Schild; geteilt durch einen dreireihig achtmal von Rot und Silber (Weiß) geschachter Balken, oben ein wachsender roter, blaubewehrter und -bezungter Löwe und im Schildfuß ein schwarzes durchgehendes Kreuz.“ Das von Otto Hupp gestaltete Wappen zeigt die Symbole der ehemaligen Landesherren Herzogtum Berg (Bergischer Löwe), Grafschaft Mark (Schachbalken) und Kurfürstentum Köln (Kreuz). |
