Object history
Deutsch: Der Zinnenschnitt weist auf die bis zum Jahre 1794 vorhandene Zugehörigkeit des Orts zum Kurkölnischen Amt Nürburg hin. Der silberen Brunnen mit geteiltem Wasserstrahl soll den Ortsnamen "Drees" versinnbildlichen. Schon 1222 wird der Ort urkundlich als "Dreyse" erwähnt. Das Wort Drees stammt aus dem Keltischen und bedeutet sprudelnde Quelle. Das germanische "Thrais" bedeutet Sprudel, sprudeln oder wirbeln. Vulkanische Ursprünge weisen darauf hin, dass eine frühere Mineralquelle dem Ort den Namen gegeben hat. Das Antoniuskreuz mit den Pilgerglöckchen steht für den Ortspatron, den Hl. Antonius.
