Object history
Deutsch: Bei der Gestaltung des Wappens nahm man Bezug auf die Gerichtssiegel, die in Elsoff geführt wurden. In einem Siegel um 1620 steht im Umdruck: "GERICHTSSIEGEL ZU ELSOFF". Weiter erkennt man einen Bischof mit Schlüssel, Hirtenstab und Schwert. Damit ist ohne Zweifel der Kirchenpatron gemeint; sollten Petrus und Paulus, denen bereits die alte Kapelle in Elsoff geweiht war, durch Bischofstracht und Schwert in einer Person dargestellt sein? Bei der Wappengestaltung wurde auf die beiden Heiligenatrribute zurückgegriffen und als Farbe wählte man die der früheren Landesherren Nassau (blau) und Hessen (gelb).
