Description
Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Gimbte, seit 1975 Stadtteil von Greven: „In Gold (Gelb) ein blauer Wellenbalken, begleitet von zwei schwarzen Lilien im oberen und einer schwarzen Lilie im unteren Feld.“ Das Wappen basiert auf dem Wappen des im 16. Jahrhundert ausgestorbenen Geschlechts der Familie von Gimbte. Es zeigte drei schwarze Lilien auf goldenem Grund. Der Wellenbalken steht für die Lage des Dorfes an der Ems.
English: „Or, a fess wavy azure accompanied from two fleur-de-lis sable above and one beneath.“ The arms were granted on January 4, 1939. The three fleur-de-lis on gold are derived from the old arms of the Lords von Gimbte, who probably originated from the area and who became extinct in the 16th century. The fess wavy symbolises the Ems river.
