Object history
Deutsch: Die Wappenfigur der Kirche bezieht sich auf den Namen der Gemeinde, der wohl als „Kirche im Wald" aufzufassen ist. Holzkirch gehörte zur Herrschaft Albeck, die im 13. Jahrhundert im Besitz der Markgrafen von Burgau und danach bis 1385 in dem der Grafen von Werdenberg gewesen ist. An diese beiden Geschlechter sollen im Gemeindewappen deren Wappenfarben Silber und Rot erinnern. Das Wappen wurde am 2. Mai 1956 vom Innenministerium, die Flagge am 15. Januar 1982 vom Landratsamt verliehen.
